Combining teraflex 2" and 4" lifts...

so i was reading the article on 4x4wire and it mentioned combining the 2" BB and 4" s4w teraflex short arm lift to get 6"... how come more people don't do this... is there any disadvantage to this, or is it safe to do. the 2"bb says "not to be used w/ aftermarket springs" right on the webpage.. so that makes me wonder why the warning, but why 4x4wire would do the writeup telling you its OK

any opinions? or if i want 6" should i just buy a 6" lift kit

thanks

6" on short arms is iffy

on road ride will suck
b/c your control arms are at a such a severe angle.

most have problems, some dont'

most ppl at 6" run long arms.

good luck if you try tho

thats what i wanted to hear... what lift did you have in the pics in your sig.?

the only reason i am iffy about the longarm suspension is because i want bolt-on, the 6" kit i've seen is a weld in deal from the looks... and the jeep isn't ready for that, i've got to many cut up minitrucks to wanna cut into the jeep also haha

Had the Kolak Old Man Emu Springs, and the Teraflex spacers for the pic

then went to the tera 4" with spacers. and no more short arms for me

Yeah i had the same idea, about wanting bolt on - but now theres no turning back.

Okay,
several guys have done this and the ride doesn't suck. You'll need to get the adjustable teraflex arms and then work with the lift so that your front axle is now back in the stock position. WIth the 4 inch lift and BB added, you brought the front and rear axles closer to the mid point of the vehicle. So, you need to push them back out to lessen some of the increased angle on the control arms.

I considered doing this same thing, but after more research it just seemed like a pain in the butt. I'm happy with my 4 inch lift.

Some individuals have been industrious enough to bring the WJ to 6" of lift. This has been accomplished by combining the Teraflex 4" lift and the Tera 2" BB. Additional modifications are necessary to obtain this amount of lift. These modifications include the creation of an adjustable track bar, dropping the rear brake lines, running adjustable front upper control arms, and replacing the stock upper ball joints with 2-degree offset upper ball joints. The WJ's ride at 6" is a bit more harsh than at lower heights.
More people do not do this for many reasons: the additional work, expence, harsh ride and for not needing a 6" lift.

Why do you want a 6" lift? What tire size are you planning on running? If you want 33" tires just stick with the 4".Then use the money you saved to put towards tires, gears, lockers, etc...
