Has anybody herd of putting ford F150 4x4 coils on the front of a ZJ? I was told it would give me 4 inches of lift.

And it will ride like a grain wagon. Those F150 coils are some really stiff springs.
Just get some proper lift springs.

Agreed,
unless you don't mind driving a horse wagon around, I would spend the money and get a proper, vehicle specific lift.
Plus ford and ford parts suck.

I'm not a ford man either but the 8.8 axle is a thousand times better than our Dana 35

I believe it was only 3". Although, I agree with everyone else. Coils really aren't the expensive part of a lift. Just save up, and get some decent ones that are vehicle specific.

I'm pretty sure they still won't perform right on the trail with the different spring rates, and being way stiffer. Go for it, and tell us how it goes since you're obviously doing it regardless of our opinions.

Yours are aftermarket lift springs on an XJ, he's asking about stock ford springs on a ZJ.
I think you should go for it. If they don't ride right, or you're not satisfied with their performance it's not hard too take them off. Just remember you'll need an adjustable track bar, extended sway bar links, bumpstops, shocks, and control arms are recommended.

has anyone actually put the F150 springs in?
i did it for ****s and giggles, because i bought some "3" inch lift springs off a guy and what showed up were definitly F150 coils............ so, for posts exactly like this, i put em in and went for a spin;
and yep, it rides like a dump truck. especially with cheap aftermarket shocks. i threw my rancho RSXs on after and it made the ride bearable; but still very harsh.
you will get your lift out of it; flexwise? the guy that i bought the springs off flexed 800 on a 23 degree ramp; not many short arm kits can do that......n i was surprised at this; because i watched it flex.......
you guys shouldn't knock the 8.8 just because it says 'ford' on it...... for a 1/4 of the money you'd spend on a turdy-five, you will have an indestructible axle. again; guess how i know.

I say go for it. its free, and a learning curve. if you like it great, if not then swap it out. Let us know how it goes. Cheap is good if it works out well.
