Code 52 - what could be the culprit?

O2 was replaced some 800-1000miles ago. Today in very hot weather (90+ in shade) I drove a short route in town, engine got to operating temp, then shut it down, then 2 min later back on, moved 20 meters, then it was in neutral idling for some 10 min, shut off, back on in 10 min, drove shortly (2 miles maybe, frequent stop & go) then back off, back on in a minute, 2 more miles stop & go, turn off, 15 minutes, back on, 2 miles stop & go and finally the CEL came on with 52.

I don't know if the frequent on/off had something to do with it, and after I finally aprked her and turned her back on the CEL went off (did not druve her through), but since O2 sensor is NGK and practically new, I was wondering what else could cause the 52 to come on?
