Code 11 Help, Engine stalls, intermittent
I have a 95 GC that has been quitting at random times. Sometimes while driving and sometimes just won't start. I have ruled out fuel pump by pressure test and voltage supply. I think this problem is electrical.
The computer is giving me a code 11. From the Haynes manual, "No distributor refrence signal detected during engine cranking. Check the circuit between the distributor and the pcm." I checked the coil and it is good, I also checked voltage supply from the PCM and did the "test light" test from the PCM and it does flash when I crank the engine over. Code 54 is specific to the camshaft/distributor sensor, so should I be checking the crank sensor? There is no code listed for a fault of the crank sensor. What else is there to check between the PCM and the distributor/ignition? TIA Aaron

O.K., No replies, guess I'm the only REAL mechanic on this site.
It was the crankshaft sensor. The edge of the plastic sensor started to cut the 3 wire cable coming out of it. The cable from the automatic drive shifter would rub by the wires, and over the years, has cut through the wires, but just enough to make the engine stall intermittently. SO, the crank sensor CAN cause a code 11 fault, as well as other things. I hope this helps someone else out in the future. Aaron |
