clicking when in 4wd *video*
when i engage 4wd high or low i sometimes get this light rythmic clicking or pinging sound. it sounds like if you were to lightly tap a screw driver on a hollow driveshaft. it sounds like its coming from the center or front.
you can hear it here in this video between the groans of mild flex http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5Ddq7lOX8w 2000 wj 4.0

just a shot in the dark but it could be a bad u-joint or CV drive shaft.

Ive been real busy and havent gotten a chance to get under it. So you guys think its front driveshaft cv? also does that mean total driveshaft replacement or cant the cv be swapped? also it only does it in 4wd if it were the driveshaft wouldnt it do it all the time? i read somewhere it could be a worn transfer case chain. any thoughts? no aussie locker btw Last edited by pulsepb; 11-21-2009 at 03:40 PM.. |

Either the front CV shaft or the transfer case chain is slipping.
