checklist of common things that go wrong on wj's. mechanically speaking.

so i just replaced the fan relay, and am about to replace the fan itself due to them being dead, and it got me wondering what parts on a wj are common to fail. im at 120k and i want this to be a reliable car for me, so like i have done with the mustang, i want to do some preventative maintinance. what else can i go about replacing other than plugs, air filter, ect. thanks for the help.

and theres nothing else i need to watch out for in the way of parts that break commonly. no tie rods, balljoints, anything? thats kinda reassuring to me becasue im to the point where i have allot of money in my rig as of right now. and its worrying me. my dad and i are worried this thing will never stop breaking. fluids include, and add it for me if i forget any, oil, coolant, brake, trans, tcase, diffs, wiper () right?

Not calling it a car is good preventative maintenance.

Seriously though, the best thing that you can do is change your fluids religiously. From what you have posted in the past, it looks like the PO of your Jeep didn't maintain it as well as they should have, and so I think you can expect your dub to has some problems.

Is there some sort of kit the comes with all suspension bushings? I known I've seen kits like that for Wranglers.

I'm just wondering because at 129,100 miles and have lots of squeeks and creaks when I go over bumps and around corners.

Where is a good place to get all of these bushings?

check out the maintenance section of wjjeeps.com for some good guidelines for preventive maintenance/fluids/etc.

when it comes to parts that either work correctly or are totally broken (sensors, lights, etc), i usually wait until they are non-functional before replacing them. otherwise, you could end up replacing parts that have years of "life" left in them.

but when it comes to things that slowly degrade over time (fluids, plugs, etc), a little up front maintenance goes a long way.

Hood struts, radiator, front tweeters, tail light bulbs & housing, door lock actuators and brakes. If you have not had an issue yet, you probably will.

None are terrible or will break the bank but about all can be handled yourself with not much brains. (Ask me how I know)
