cheap list for upgrades
Ok peoples, I have done it and subscribed to be a member. exciting.. anyway I am looking for some, relatively speaking, cheap upgrades for my mostly stock ZJ. Right now it has some reinforced coil springs and that is it. I still have the stock "gold" rims on it and want to start building slowly but surely. Other than a cold weather starting problem, she is a great vehjicle that I cannot wait to take off roading a bit more. In its current condition I have already had it up Mosquito pass here in Colorado and in Left hand Canyon where I made a wrong turn and went down a dry river bed, susequently crushing my rocker panel on the passenger side. But hey its a jeep
and the door still works! Any ideas for a novice who is asking for an Air Compressor for Christmas, and looking forward to learning how to work on my cars?chris

Well welcome to the forum Chris!
The things you need to think about are: - A lift - might start with a budget boost (BB) - self installed cheap. Look here as one source:http://www.kevinsoffroad.com/spacerz.html Spend some time looking around Kevin's site - you'll learn a lot! - Bigger tires - 31" are good with a BB - Protection - you need rocker sliders as you already learned! Kevin's has info on them also. Later you can add a transfer case skid and gas tank skid. - You need front tow hooks and a rear hitch or tow hook. Rusty's has a good front tow hook kit: http://rustysoffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=rustys&Product _Code=ZJ-TH&Category_Code=rec_hit That should get ya started. Don't be afraid to use the search feature on this forum to look stuff up because you're not the first one to ask these questions and you'll get a lot of answers fast! Welcome!! Phil You get this stuff and you'll be set.

Chris,
If you explain your cold start problem we might be able to help remedy it. We've run into quite a few of them lately. BTW, welcome to the forum!
