if you don't have a LSD you don't need friction modifier.

From what I've read putting it in will not hurt, and possibly could lengthen the life.

I put the whole thing in mine but I think it calls for half.

Didn't all GC's with Quadra-Drive have an LSD in the rear?

Yes if you had a WJ. Are you going to check your codes yet?

When checking codes you just turn it on and off 5 times right?

I would just put it in because most likely you have a LSD and some jerking is usually what happens when you dont add the modifier. However it would not cause a vibration and cause the engine to shut down. There is something else going on here.

I'm going to put the Friction Modifier in tomorrow and see if that helps. I'll check out the engine tomorrow if it continues to act funny.

I just realized something. I might have put regular gear oil in the rear diff, instead of synthetic. Man I'm stupid....... I'll probably have to pull off the diff cover now and clean out the oil inside.......

The 75-140 synthetic is only required if you are towing due to the added load of pulling a trailer. For normal day to day driving the dino oil won't hurt anything.

If you have the trac loc rear diff there should have been a tag attached to one of the rear cover bolts stating that fact.

Did you check the codes yet?

The additive for the gear oil is a friction modifier for the LSD clutch pack. If you did have a LSD and forgot to put the additive in, you should only experience "chattering" when the tires on the axle are rotating at different speeds, like when cornering. If you have a vibration when while accelerating in a straight line, there is some other issue.
