cant get antenna mast to pull in

it pulled out easy enough just can't get the motor to pick up the teeth and pull it back in.
I pulled it out to give it a good cleaning for it was getting a little sticky, it now works way smoother by hand, I should have payed a little closer attention to how the teeth were oriented. Can anyone give me a hint on getting it back operation? Thanks.

what you have to do is start feeding it in by hand, and have someone else turn the car on then off. and supposivly itll go all the way in the 3rd or 4th time. thats what the dealership told me at least when i bought my new one.

unfortunatly i cant get my original one out at all. it seems to be stuck in there. you know any tricks of getting it out??

No problem

just stand at the passengers door with one hand on the tip of the antenna and with the other hand reach in and hit radio power button and pull the mast out, now if the motor doesn't run your screwed.

no it runs, i hear it everytime i start the car. i do have an alpine aftermarket deck (came with the car). now when i take that little chrome nut off, i have my friend go in and turn the electrics on in the car, the motor kicks in, and i try pulling it out and it just wont budge at all. i dont know if it wont come out because i have an aftermarket deck, even though i hear the motor running, or if its jammed somehow. anyway of getting into the motor itself to find out? or better yet, convert to a standard antenna??

If you are trying to put it back in....all you have to do is hold the antenna and put the plastic regulator thing in the antenna hole....just push it in until it stops on its own...have the key turned but not to start the engine.. have the radio on so that the motor "goes up" then turn it off so that it "goes down" it may take a few times and you may have to turn the plastic regulator a different way but eventually it will pull it in...make sure that you have the retainer a well so that when it goes down completely it locks it in place and you can put the escutheon over it.....

to get it out...even if your motor isnt reponding...it should pull out by hand...the motor will rotate even if its burned up....only way it will not is if the plastic gears inside the motor are busted...it could be jammed....go to the junkyard and grab ya one!

yes you can use a plain antenna. I you want ,drill another hole install regular antenna . leave the old one where it at..... run the wire thru the door opening.
or remove the old power antenna and replace with a new non motorized one. the plastic fender has a few screw or faseners of somekind. plus the motor is bolted in, you will also have to remove the inside kick panel to gain access to the wiring

Mine been non moving for several years .I just pulled it up and left it... radio plays. The motor makes a noise whn i turn it off an on.... radio works ....

It is sooooo tempting to make a comment:

Okay, does the antenna retract after the song is over? Was it a long song or just a quick one?
