Can you shorten the shifter?

I've done this in my trans am, but there was a limit to how short it could go because the inner rod that gets pushed down when the button on the knob/handle is pressed to get it out of park changed diameter. Is it the same for the zj? I haven't looked yet.

Anyone ever done it?

i would imagine it could be done. the ZJ shift lock rod is like a bunch of little balls on a stick. theyre all the same size as far as i can tell.

For an XJ, but essentially the same setup, could probably be improved on though
