Can't figure out the squeak!!!

So recently starting gettin a lil squeak in the engine. figured it was just the belt needing replacing so i i replaced. still squeaked but i thought it was the new belt braking in. i was wrong...been a week now and the squeak is still around, well sometimes its there and other times its not.

i have a feeling its either my alternator or the ac compressor. reason i say its my alternator is cause whenever the squeak is around my amp gauge lowers into the 10-9v range yet everything seems to work just fine. but when its not squeaking my amp reads at 13v.

reason i think its my ac compressor is cause well i've heard that those pulleys have a tendency to wear out. well im sure all of em go out at some point.

any thoughts before i go buyin a new alternator or ac compressor?

had a feelin might be just wanted to get another opinion on it before i bought a new one...now to decide which one to replace it with. i wanna go with more amps than the 90 one but i dont feel like i need those HO 200 amp ones. any recommendations. i live really close to a 4 wheel parts store so i can pick one up today easily.

Have you checked the idler pulley below the air compressor? Remove the belt and spin that pulley. You'll feel the grit if it's bad.

Power steering pulley bearing maybe?

Unfortunately I don't know how to check for the bearing on the pump pulley but someone else on here should be able to suggest something. I had a similar squeak for awhile before my power steering pulley failed. Attempts to simply replace the pulley itself also failed so a complete replacement of the power steering pump and new pulley solved the problem. FWIW

I'll second the alternator most likely being your problem.
If that picture of the alt is any indication, you'll be putting the pulley on it before it's useable. It looks like an OEM replica, the type some dealerships and cheaper shops adopt. I've seen that brand floating around some places before but don't know much about them. The company is official but there's no reviews I'm able to find on a brief search to see their reliability.

I'm having an ongoing squeak aswell..ugh its driving me crazy ...my father is telling me its the Alt.

Just put a long screw driver up to it and listen. You'll know in a few seconds where the noise is coming from.

Look up the Durango alt swap. One of the bolts in with some wiring and gives you better amps

apparently there is a 160amp alt from a dodge grand caravan that will bolt in with same wiring.

I've seen that as well but no one seems to know the exact year of it to pull from.. Did you find that out?

I learned the hard way. If you bought a $20 belt.... that's probably it. I finally got rid of the squeak with a $45 Gates/NAPA belt. The ones from Mexicao suck.

cheap belts are really hit and miss.. Some jeeps love them, some will scream bloody murder nonstop until you give it a pricey belt. Mine has a cheaper belt($25 i think?) and it's never squeeled once except for a couple bouts of not being tightened enough and needing a quick squirt of grease or something on the pulleys. Most other people I've seen around here, they HAVE to get the $50+ belts less they deal with the headaches and weird stares
