Looks like I have a leak in the trans cooler lines. Looks to be a PITA to change the lines. Can the trans cooler be bypassed if I don't plan on towing?
You mean to have no cooler at all? Not a good idea, even in cold weather the torque converter will build a lot of heat. You're going to have to fix lines.
I forgot that they still had trans coolers on those models. 98 didn't have one and my 95 did. I was mixed up. Sure you can bypass the aux cooler and just run through the rad. Buy why would you want to? It's easy enough to replace the lines. Just remove the grill and you will have access.
I used rubber hydro line for my bigger external cooler not a single issue. I used the same stuff on my power steering cooler.
