A/C Compressor

Hello.

Is it a normal thing for the A/C compressor to be running most/all the time while the engine is running? At first I thought it may have something to do with me runnning the auto climate control, but it runs every few seconds like the A/C is on even when the climate control is off. Could this be the relay that controls it? It goes on every 12 seconds or so for about 7 seconds, it happens anytime the engine is on. Thanks in advance.

Chris
