Double layer foam posterboard works really good also, its lighter and more rigid than cardboard

We'll I decided to start a rough sketch of the bumper out of cardboard and tape. I will be building off the winch plate I had laying around in the garage. I think I got the desighn down how I want it to look.

I bent these pieces of metal and secured with self taping skrews just to hold the winch plate up to desighn around it.

I think I want to make the sides out of 1/8th to save on weight. still should be plenty strong. Next week I should be ready to start building it and during the week reinforce the front end.

Looks good, I would tend to drop the winch plate lower into the bumper than that. Looks at riots build, http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f22/r...grand-1436100/

Looking good man. I would use at least 3/16" for your mounts that will go inside the frame rails. 1/8 for the rest should be good. My bumper is pretty heavy and I used both 3/16" and 1/8".

I like having my winch kinda.. "low" if you will. I Tboned a guy going about 50 with my old jeep. It had the same bumper design as my current ZJ. Having that winch kinda buried in my bumper saved it in the accident. Plus it helps keep from blocking my radiator. -Just a thought. Keep it up man, you welding it yourself?

Thanks yeah I will be using 3/16 for the mounts and front of bumper. I'm also thinking of making a bar to go in front of the winch to help protect it. I have a 110 Lincoln all use to tack it all together then find one of my buddy's with a 220 v and all probly weld it.

Cut out some metal to slide in my 1/8 reinforcements. Also cut out some of the bumper pices with a torch. Now to grind all the pieces and hopefully next week put it all together
