Bumper brackett

I see on the parts breakdown that two screws hold the rear bumper brackett on a 98 zj. I see the thresds of the screws. Where are the heads exposed?

If you have a hitch or skid plate over your gas tank, its those bolts.

they are studs, as on both ends are threaded. the top goes through the frame rail into the welded nut on the bumper bracket, and the bottom goes down for attaching the skid and/or hitch. they are a pain to get out. best luck is using 2 nuts with a locknut in between them. or, if you can, weld a nut onto the bottom of the threads. top and bottom are both right hand thread. then, to replace them use bolts up from the bottom. size m12

Thanks king, I understand now. Bumper has been saggy on that side for a long time. I,m getting rid os the laredo cladding/bumpers and putting limited stuff on.

Any idea what size that bottom thread is? I wanna get two nuts to take these off. My new brackets and bumper are out for delivery today....
