build your own control arms

Hi I was wondering if anyone has built there own and if so where did u go to get your heim joints and stuff. I was wanting to build my own to save some money and to get rid of my stock stamped metal arms. I was curious tho in the future I plan on putting a rough country 3 inch spring and shock upgrade to it if I do that should I wait to build them or could i build them but add like a inch or two to help push my axles back into the wheel wells any have any ideas or could help me out thanks.

some companies that sell good stuff are:
ballistic fabrication
clayton offroad (sells currie products)
currie
polly performance

i would recommend that you make them adjustable. this way when you lift it and start changing things you will be able to dial in the pinion angle and axle placement. i have used the ballistic fab weld on flex joints. they are really nice.

Ok thanks so much I am just wanting to replace the stock stamp ones. The most ill put on it is 3 inch of lift since its my daily driver but want something that can hold up to light to medium trails. That is what I was wanting to do too is make them adjustable so I can change the angles to fine tune it after I'm all said and done.

IRO sells rubber bushing sleves so you can use factory rubber bushings on one end which will improve the ride on the road. they also sell control arms pretty cheap. both are in this link

Ok so my homework ended pretty fast when I think I might just buy them. Do u know where a good set of them are at just to replace my stock set up. The other thing I see is why arnt there ever any upper control arms they all look to be for the bottom control arms if u do the bottom u have to do the top too right?

As the others said, why'd you change your mind?

I've built quite a few arms with the Ruff Stuff heims/bungs. 5/8" heims with 1.5" DOM all the way up to 1.25" heims in 2" DOM. Ruff Stuff carries some of the best quality products you can get. Dan doesn't like to sell junk, period. And great customer service.

Summit Machine sells really good stuff too.

I guess I'm not 100% sure on what type of heims to buy to just replace my stock arms example 5/8 or whatever. The other thing is when I'm looking at these well they look to only be for my lower links not the top. I have switched out my dana 30 three times in my gc now to know that the top control arms on the axlle side welll need a fork on that side well do u fab that or can u buy that with the heims? It sounds like you guys have my back so sure ill try it out and see what's going on thanks guys and to 5.9 andy if things hit the fan with the build for sure man. Is ur set top and bottomm for front and rear?
