woo hoo, just recived my build sheet from....
http://www.jeep.com/wccsapp/universa...ull&category=U
Contact Jeep

i have a few questions:

first is where do I find a link for decoding all of it?
second, I was thring to find out if i had the tow package on my ZJ. I have on my jeep the bolts for the trail hitch, but no hitch.

im dont know where to look for decoding some of your build sheet,

but i am quite sure that it will say amongst one of the lines

"Factory Tow Group" and then a roman numeral. for example mine says something like (without having it in front of me)

Factory Tow Group IV

Which means i have a factory installed hitch Class III, tranny cooler, and gear ratio 3.73s

If you dont have a number next to the tow group then i am assuming you dont have one.

Anyone correct me if i am wrong please.

Edit: Maybe i have 3.55s, i dont know, i have to look it up again, but i coulda sworn it was 3.73

just checked the build sheet from my 5.9 and the build sheet from my old 5.2, and both state:

AHX - Trailer Tow Group IV

it would seem intuitive that this would mean a class iv hitch receiver....

however, it would also seem intuitive to NOT place a wear item (i.e. evaporator, blend doors) in such a place that you have to remove the WHOLE dash to get to them.

I have a bad door or blower in there that rattles and vibrates my whole dash if i get going too fast and the wind is just right. Its so annoying but im not about to dismantle my jeep for it. ill wait till i have to replace my heater core or something.

As far as the hitch, It would seem pointless (in my opinion) for chrysler to put a class IV hitch on there when the jeep is only capable of towing around 5000 lbs anyway, a class IV hitch would be overkill. Just a thought, but anyway, Cool.

The 4.0 can tow 5000lbs., the 5.2 can tow 6500lbs. So it is just easier having one package than two.

Yea, they are. but they are long studs sticking down with the little Tabs that act as the bolt head or nut. If your telling me that that is the only thing holding my bumper in then im gona pull them out and put real bolts in there tomorow!
Kinda looks like that those bolts would only be used if it did have a hitch mounted up then the nuts went on to secure both the bumper and the hitch. There are some old rust spots on there like it did have something at one point and I do have the trans cooler pluss the one in the rad also. Havent checked on the wireing harness yet.
I assume this is the same studs for the skid plate also if it is it aint there either.

from what i recall, the hitch and fuel take skid plate are held on by the same set of bolts. 2 on either side of the gas tank if you look under the truck. i think on each side, one is a bolt, and one is a stud. it was a pretty easy install for either part.
