build my jeep with $3k

on top of what I already have with the ZJ I cant decide on what to do next with it. I dont know if I want to do LA front and throw lockers in with a bumper from KOR and ADJ TBs, shocks, axle upgrades, front adj. upper CAs, and the list goes on..... or just buy a whole LA kit and skip the lockers and bumper and such.

I dont know.

If you had my ZJ and was going to throw 2500-3000 on it, what would you get?

I would get either the IRO or Clayton long arms upgrade (not the 7" kit) Then use the rest for armor like bumpers, skid plates, rock sliders, etc.

well I would have to buy everything from IRO except the coil springs and that is -$360 from thier kit so that puts me close at my limit to do anything else...

I`m not arguing, im just justifying or talking myself out of droppin 2k on just LAs and such when i might or might not be able to benifit from other things...ya know?

Why can't you just get the arm upgrade? I don't understand.

bc I need l would like to get long travel shocks and all I have is TB brackets so I would have to get ADJ TBs, and extended brake lines and Discos so I might as well get thier whole kit minus the coils... right?

Your jeep already has 4" of lift, all you need to do is swap out the arms you have now for the long arms. You don't need longer shocks and coils unless you want to lift more.

You should get adjustable track bars anyway. Discos can be found pretty cheap, you can get either drop brackets or extended brake lines.

You don't want your jeep flexing past its capablility anyway which is why you get limiting straps. Or you will unseat coils all the time.

adjustable track bar
upgrade rear axle 8.8
lockers f/R
gears
front and rear protection
sliders
winch

that should take care of most of it. maybe adjustable control arms (short arm)

to me this list would let you go out and just adventure have fun and keep it simple.
Lockers are a night and day difference. go anywhere.
winch makes you feel way more comfortable.
just ideas

but regardless, would you want to run these stiff a**
RC shocks? I know I cant stand them, so shocks need to come sooner than later.

so IROs LA kit minus the coils?

do you think I would benifit more from just discos, front upper adj CAs, Adj TBs, and say a front locker, a regear (to get rid of these 3.55s) and maybe a 242 swap? and a d44a if I can find one?

IRO sells the front and rear as just long arm upgrades. You have to email or call them for that.

Yes you would benefit from all of that, but I wouldn't lock a D35. You should do low arms before you do uppers. An 8.8 would also be a great mod.

The reason I said IRO long arms is because you asked what I would do, and that's what I would do. I wish I would have just got long arms and skipped the short arms. But that's just me.

I say the iceland offroad cutout fender flares/rocksliders/winch bumper/with towshackles and fairlead for $1,618 with shipping, then some better axles and 35's.

do the flares allow for more clearance? Unless they require trimming then I wouldnt think so, to fit 35s, but I havent looked too much into them so dont hold me to it. elaberate on the axles....

Better axles as in Dana 44's or front d44 and rear 8.8. If want 35's that's a whole nother can of worms.

Ask Kevin from Kevinsoffroad.com how much fun he had installing his Iceland fender flares.

long arms are awesome, smooth ride lots of flex gets away from stock suspension geometry.
Sticking with stock geometry is reliable, somewhat cheaper and no brainer.
adding adjustable uppers will let you dial in your pinion angle helping tons.
flexy suspension is nothing with out traction, i.e. LOCKERS.
for my build that is happening right now i am going
4'' rough country kit (with the new flex joints)
iron rock adjustable track bar
yj brake hoses (front)
stock 3.73 gears
rear 8.8 with lsd/with clutch upgrade
front aussie locker
242 swap.
front/ rear home engineered bumpers
sliders
33'' km2's. and just go wheel it have fun, reliability is a huge factor. i have built a balls to the wall samurai. and i had reliability issues with all the MAJOR upgrades engine/suspension/axles. so keep it simple and fun. this is a hobby and installing it , hunting down best prices is part of it. its not a race. ha let me know xmattx
