Broken ignition lock barrel - anyone seen this before

I went to start my 96 GC today and it wouldn't go. The key was turning but it felt like it wasn't connecting with anything until too late. If I pushed it in as hard as I could I could get it started eventually.

So I pulled out the barrel and a section has broken off the bottom where it turns the switch.

The chip in the circle to the right is supposed to be where the other circle is..

Is this common? Is the lock mechanism expensive? Anyone got one lying around that they feel like mailing to a very poor Jeeper in Australia

I don't have one, but I would be making a bee-line to the nearest Jeep graveyard to find one. I remember reading that there is a particular procedure for removal and installation on these things, so you may want to do a bit of research before simply plugging in a new one.
Here is some more info:
Ignition Lock Cylinder . OEM part# 4778122
$66.60 USD
