Brake Lights don't work

2004 Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7HO. Brake Lights dont't work at all. I can not find the fuse for that brake light circuit. It's not listed in the manual or of the fuse block cover. Everything else electrical works. They just all of a sudden stop working. Al other lights are working fine. Please help!!! My wife is getting mad!!!

have the same problem with my 96 what i think could be is the box that is in the left side cubby hole in the rear. when mine does it i have to unplug it and wait a few then plug it back inthen they work i guess it resets its self. try that and see what happens.

bost1217:
it could be something as simple as a bad switch with is located on the pedal. however, the WJ's have a body computer that all light controls run threw (along with the seat, windows, locks and anything else power)... so it might be a more of a pain in the butt then that. the dealership can actually just plug a computer into the jeep and it will tell them the exact source of the problem.

pro street jeep:
The ZJ's are not as complicated.
Maybe that connector you unplug is bad and your repluggin it fixes the problem temporarily.

I opened up both tail light housings and found the passanger side one to have water in it. The bulbs are good but the metal strips that carry the power to the lights were rusted. Is there a fuse I can check. I looked in the book and on the fuse box. Nothing says "Brake lights"

The end result was a bad switch at the brake pedal. Thanks.
