bought grand cherokee Smell anitfreeze???

Hello,
I just purhased my first jeep and it is a 2001 grand cherokee with the 4.7 v8 and i love it, but i turned on my heater today and i could smell antifreeeze. i ckecked the radiator and it was full but i'm thinkin heater core. can someone confirm this?? also it has the infinity system in it but the front tweeters are blown and the front door speakers do not work. anyone know where to get direct replacements at a decent price? One more thing, i'm wanting to do the cheapy 2" lift with the spacers and put some aggressive tires on it but not have them howl too bad. i was thinking 245/75/16......any input on tires and sizing would also b appreciated. thanks

Keep an eye on the radiator recovery bottle; always check it when cold. A slow leak will cause it to drop. If it's a large one, you'll probably see water on the passengers side. Also, put the heat in defrost mode and if you see an oily (ie not water) film forming on the windshield you have a leak.
It could also be mildew causing an odor.

The dash speakers are OEM only, but there was at least one online company that made some drop in replacements. The doors are 6x9" and should be easy to find after market.

I would just buy a set of 6x9 to 6.5 adapters and buy a set of components and drop them in, the sound will be WAYYYYY better, 6x9's are more distorted, sound waves are round, not oblong (toss a stone in water, nice round ripples, now hit it with a stick [way oversimplified]), you can easily put the tweeters in the dash w/ double sided tape, then take the POS stock speakers out and have fun w/ the BFH

If you smell coolant in the cab, Id say heater core.
If the windows fog on the inside with the defrost on, Id say heater core

No, it's not covered by the powertrain warranty. The dash does have to come out for that one. There's no way around it. The part is less than $100, but it'll take many hours in the garage to get the dash in and out.

I try to warn people. WJ's don't have a good maint repuation. That's why mine is gone and I now have a ZJ.

Will anyone listen to me? No. That's okay. I'm not paying for it.

Yes, I'm bad, but I wasted enough in a WJ to know to stay away. I have less in the ZJ in purchase plus upgrades than I had in maintenance in the WJ for the 20 months I owned it.

Well the best part, is that I had brought it to the dealer for this while it was under warranty and they didnt fix it, said there was nothing wrong. Now its out of warranty....

At a glance I thought it would be a easy job, but since its not I'm going to do my best to fight with them to have them take care of it...

I still like my WJ
