bought a 98 zj have a few questions

Hey all I bought a jeep tonight runs good has a few little issues but nothing huge. The dome lights stay on as long as the vehicle is on. Take key out they go out but when driving down the road the dome lights won't turn off. Possibly the light switch? The check engine light was on for p0118 which I assume is the temp sensor on the thermostat housing. The scan tool shows a temporary reading of -40. And it had a code for fuel level sender high input. But I was able to clear that code and it didn't come back on the 40 mile drive home. Anything else I should check for on this thing? Runs good and 4wd works great.

we can help you better if you fill out your profile info of what engine, transmission, transfer case and any mods your jeep has for your sig. each thing has its own little quirks.

For the interior lighting, on my sons 1997 4.0 ZJ, I had to tape a short stack of quarters in the door jamb to push the switch all the way in. It thought the door was still open when in fact it was closed.

You can check this by checking each door separately with all the others closed, pushing the switch by hand. If one of them causes the interior light to go off, you have found your problem. Otherwise, happy hunting!!

If the switch doesn't look like the culprit, you might check the topside of your overhead console. A member ("1190405") here had to pull his console, and he found a broken wire from one of the rear courtesy lights that was shorting against the roof. I believe that his lights stayed on as well. Food for thought.

Check the interior light dimmer slider on the headlight control box. If it's all the way up it turns the dome lights on
