blower motor - blower motor connector melted

my blower motor wasnt working. upon reading on wjjeeps, the blower motor control module's connector was melted. http://www.wjjeeps.com/blower_motor.htm

i pulled the motor out and it looks fine, spins freely, and doesn't smell burned. It gave 0.5ohms on the voltmeter. i'm gonna hook a battery to it tomorrow @ work and put my amp clamp on it also.

providing the motor is ok and i have no pinced wires, why would it burn the connector like that? the 40a fuse under the hood was not blown either.

any other ideas?

It's a common problem. Majority of the connectors are burned just like that.

Plus, the blower motor resistor creates an enourmous amount of heat, I'm sure that doesn't help.

My parents just had the same issue on their WJ Overland. They brought it to my mechanic friend (ASE certified Master and has been working on Jeeps for over 35 years) and he simply soldered the wire direct to the blower motor. This cost my parents $50 and it is working great now.

****Note- The dealer will most likely NOT do this repair b/c it is not OEM spec, they will sell the whole harness and charge an arm and a leg****

Look at this link- http://www.wjjeeps.com/blower_motor.htm

Seems as if the second option is your best bet.
