Biggest Tire Size for Stock 5.9

let me start off by saying that i did search first, and did not definitively find what i was looking for.

i am wondering what the largest size tire would be that i could fit on my niner with stock 16" wheels is. preferably without trimming anything. i am planning ahead for when i need new tires. i am most likely going to go with goodyear duratracs. i was unable to find them in the stock tire size, so i figured if im going to get a different size than stock, i might as well go a little bigger if possible and fill out those wheel wells a little.

also keep in mind i will probably throw a budget boost on it within the next six months.

can you clarify this for me? so the factory tire size is all that will fit on the stock 16"s? i found duratracs in 245/75/16, which is why i was asking. i was under the impression that the slightly taller sidewall wouldnt be an issue since its going from 70 to 75.

245x75 will fit great with a BB but because they are wider they will rub the control arms a little when turning sharp. When you put the BB on they will be nice and functional and stuff well. You may have to trim a tiny sharp corner off of the front bumper inside the wheel well. Takes 5 minutes and you can't tell.

Not all 245x75 16's are the same size. My treadwrights are 30.9 tall by 9.8 wide. Some are smaller some are larger.

thanks for the help so far guys.

looks like im going to go with 245/75/16 Duratracs.

unless im mistaken, it seems that tires this size can be run on stock suspension with no issues at all.

I have the skids I just didn't have them on. This was soon after the VC replacement. I didn't bother putting them back on either lol Still not on. I hit more crap with the skid than anything else. Never did anything to severe in the 5.9. Mostly old wagon trails to ghost towns. I did a small rock garden once in Red Rock state park. Took all day, bumpy as hell, and nothing at the end to see. It was fun though. There is a pic of a Blazer someone rolled off a cliff. It was stripped of everything. I am assuming by Mexicans or someone who loves Mexican beer because there were cans all over it.

245's will fit fine til you get the BB on. Then you'll want 31's

most 31s are smaller than 31" and some 245s are closer to 31" than 30s. i had 30.52x 9.62 on stock tsi wheels and no lift and only extended the turn radius bolts half inch and didnt rub anymore. i added the bb for a better stance and to be able to go offroad. check your tires actual diameter

Who the hell sold you those wheels and why didn't you return them? haha. My "31's' are 30.5(ish, little higher than .5)x10.5 (almost exactly) r15.

The chart is a guide, use it as such, best way to find out is shove it in there. with these wheels I had rubbing on bumper without trimming on a 2.25"BB with UC package. Spacers made no rub on CA's.

But 255's I'd expect to be close to 31's. (Nitto's 255's on my friends TJ are smaller then my 31's) If my 245's were close to 31's those are some big freakin 245's.

dang, how much are you guys paying per wheel at that size? Just goes to show wheel sizes are not universal through different companies.
