Bed liner?

Im sure a "few" of you have done this.

How much bed liner did you go through to do your entire Zj?

Im picking up a "new" 97 ZJ tomorrow, and the paint is beat to hell.

Its got 100k or so on it, one owner. Was used as a shop truck, so its got some dents and dings.

Unfortunatly, its auto and only a straight 6, but the price was right and the owner was a mechanic so its mechanically in perfect shape.

Im new to the jeep thing, so be easy on me.

2 gals of desert sand and a quart of black. If I were to do it again I would use 3.

Sorry to jack your thread, but roughknight how'd you handle the door frames? Did you paint all the way into the weatherstripping?

take tape, sticky side up, and push it under the weather stripping and fold it over top to make the best lines. or buy some type of special tape that holds the weather stripping up to paint under it some.

Ya, from what I read I think for coating the whole vehicle with bedliner the monstaliner is probably the best bet since it comes out textured looking when you roll it on but it isnt porous like a lot of bedliners that trap dirt particles which will make it look like crap over time and hard to wash it off completely and have it look good.

Also the monstaliner has regular black or tintable bedliner and like 40 or more colors to choose from that you add to the tintable bedliner to color it at a fairly reasonable price.

That monstaliner is going to cost me half as much as the zj did, seems really freaking expensive to me

15hrs to go until I have my new toy.

well just grab you some spray cans of rustoleum truck bed coating like mine. $8 a can and around 4-5 should do the entire vehicle. not perfect but looks alot better than peeling clearcoat.

It's worth it though especially if you live in the salt belt.

And I did just tape over the weather striping and painted away. Lol

Ok, how did you prep? Sand, wash, dry, paint?

Prop going with monstaliner, as they have the colors I want and they come highly recommended.

Going to do all the metal the desert tan/sand/whatever and the plastics in OD.
