Bad Coolant Sensor, and Rear Brake light failure :( - JeepForum.com

Bad Coolant Sensor, and Rear Brake light failure :(

Today was going good. Did a few good things to the jeep

New battery, new tranny pan gasket, new tranny filter


Then the stupid on board diagnostic thing was beeping COOLANT SENSOR BAD, and BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE.

I checked all the lights in the back, even the license plate bulbs. It will only blink and beep once I tap the brake pedal. Then the rear indication lights on the on board thing will start blinking.


and for the coolant sensor. Which one and where is it??

Probably your VIC.. They are prone to display messages and beep.

but the message is for the "coolant LEVEL sensor"



Cleaning it MAY help if the VIC isnt bad..

Will do. What about the one that is mounted into the head? Isint that called a coolant sensor also?

yeah the one on the head is the coolant temperature sensor. I was getting the some message and replace the temp sensor first, didn't solve the issue. Next I replaced the one in the reservoir and this fixed the issue.

Theres 3 coolant sensors. The ONLY one monitored by the VIC is the level sensor in the overflow tank.

Anything for my rear brake light failure?

Its really annoying.
