Axle Transplant

I'm wondering if the axles from a 91-95 Grand Cherokee will work with the 98 GC limited with the 5.2. They will be comming from a 5.2 (same motor as mines) Someone let me know if this will work, mines are on the way out the door and seems cheaper to get "newer" ones from the bone yard

I'm not a ZJ guy, but I don't see why it wouldn't as long as the gear ratio is the same. I don't know, maybe you would have to make the driveshaft input different.

New drive shaft is needed when swapping between the D35 and D44a...If you're going from 35-->44a you can get it shortened, however if you are going from 44a-->35 you need a new one all together.

What if I just use the shafts already connected to the 35's? Or will there be a problem with the transfer Case?

No idea if you grab the DS from the donor setup...I think that some TC's are thicker then others.

[thread stealing] I will be switching my D35 out for an 8.8 soon... will I need to get a new driveshaft? shorther I'd guess. Or will the stock one fit? I can always push the axle back an inch or two if I must. [/thread stealing]

That is what I am wondering, I found axels from a 93 5.2 That have 70k less than mine and plus its cheaper to transplant verses rebuilding the ones I have, I have a 249 TC so...I dont know
