Axle Tag decoding help...
I have both googled and forum searched for a way to decode my front axle tag....yes...I know it SHOULD be a Dana 30 with a 3.55 ratio...but my Jeep was totaled and has a salvage title...and I know if I don't find out for sure... I'll order my parts and my axle will be different and I'll have a mess on my hands...so any help us much appreciated....
the tag no. is 52069405 73 601473-5....

So what is the question ? If you want to determine the gear ratio, jack up the front axle, spin the tire one complete turn, and count the number of turns the pinion yoke makes. 3-1/2 turns = 3.55 gears and 3-3/4 turns equals 3.73 gears. Or you can open the diff cover and look for the ring gear stampings or count the ring gear and pinion teeth and do the math.
