axle shaft question

My question is that are the axle width of a 97 5.2 zj and 95 yj are the same width and will they work in my front d30 on my zj? i have an opurtunity to pick a front axle out of a yj for dirt cheap

Yes they will fit and work but not properly. The YJ doesnt have ABS and your ZJ does. Best way to go with XJ u joint shafts from an XJ with ABS. U joint shafts are a lot stronger than the POS CV shafts.

yeh i want to get rid on the cv joints bad and ok thank you didnt even think about the tone wheel on them. then whats the best donor vehicle for the 242?

96-98 ZJ with a 242. I did the swap on my 5.9 it was a simple bolt in. You goa change the wiring on the VIC to display the right position. Very simple plug and play. Ahh i also had to swap the speedo gear from my 249 to my 242 but thats all of 30 seconds.
