hi, you can try with a NV3500, or an AX-15...but you have to be careful, those trannys are rated 300 lbs ft of torque, and the 318 is putting out about that kind of torque.
If you use the jeep for some serious offroading you should think about an NV4500...i know it's for diesels but it's way stronger, or maybe an AX-15 Terminator.

i don't know any other options...

there are lots of options, but those are the main ones with overdrive. there are plenty of 4spd transmissions that will work but they're the older truck units that shift like you're sawing a log.

hi, mmm if you have "light foot" probably yes...but as i was saying before the 5.2 put out about 300 lbs ft of tq, and the ax-15 is rated 300.
There is the ax-15 TERMINATOR that is rated to 385...that would be a good option.

they're out of a toyota application, you can pretty much only get them new though.

the 3550 comes with the 5.2 in the ram and dakota.

read the swap thread in my signature, it'll walk you through what you need to do to make it happen. it's not easy.

I know, I'm 60% there. I have all the factory interior parts now, and 2 sets of zj brake/ clutch pedals from a 93 & 94. Still need clutch assy, headers, starter, bell, pcm

Yes, I'm talking to you. Your auto tranny is not weaker. However, please take lots of pics and document your modification.
