Auto temp control

What would cause this?

I have a new auto temp unit and don't want to burn it up. I'll be going to Pic-a-Part tomorrow to find a new connector & of course while I'm there look for other goodies.

Have new connector installed w/the temp control resistor from a donor jeep. Saving new one till I know this connector doesn't burn. Only interesting thing @ pic a part was a Char gold ltd. w/up country & skids, tow hooks. Don't need em. Got em already. Shocks were rusty. Gas tank skid was in excellent condition.
