ASD and code 42.

What is the cause of the computer code of 42 on a 97 ZJ?
Any clues? Thanks.

According to my Haynes manual this is a problem with the Fuel gauge sending unit. Is your gas guage working right? The 42 Check Engine Light Flash Code is covered by three Generic Scan Tool Codes. They are:
P0462 - Fuel Level Sending Unit Volts Too Low (Open Circuit between PCM and fuel gauge sending unit.)
P0463 - Fuel Level Sending Unit Volts Too High (Circuit shorted to voltage between PCM and fuel fauge sending unit.)
P0460 - Fuel Level Unit No Change Over Miles ( No movement of fuel level sender detected.)

I think you can get the scan codes read at Auto Zone for free.
