Anyone every run 315/70-17's?

I have a buddy that is the service mgr at a Hummer dealer in So Cal. They quite often get takeoff wheels and tires (BFG AT's 315/70-17's) because of all the "bling" wheels those guys just gotta have on their highly capable off road mall crawlers! Anyway, I can get a set of the tires (with wheels) for very cheap and they are all brand new. It's a pretty good deal and seeing how I'm probably going 35's anyway these would be a good match up. My ony questions is what wheels to run. I wanted to run black rock crawlers but they don't make 17's. I see a couple American Racing that have a black powder coat finish but don't know about back spacing. I can't think of any down side of running these tires, assuming I can get the correct wheels. I guess the Americans would reduce my unsprung weight over the steel ones. Any one running 17's on their ZJ's?

If you can get the tires cheap enough to make it worth your while then get some nice 17" aluminum wheels and you will be good to go! I would get some nice agressive back spacing on them though... Maybe like 4" of B.S.

Okay,

I found you multiple Black "rockcrawler" type wheels in less than five minutes. You need to get off the couch and do some surfing.

1. www.americanracing.com look under Mojave and Chamber

2. www.4wheelparts.com has the Mojave Teflons on sale in the 17 x 8 inch size.

3. www.4wheelparts.com has Rock Crawlers in black in the Series 97 in the 17 x 9 inch rims for 79.00 each.

Another wheel option is Cragar Soft 8s.

17x8, 5 on 4.5, and 4.5" of backspacing.

I feel sorry for your buddy. Those tires are a pain and a half to get off of those wheels. I had to do it yesterday at work for a flat repair, those things are huge, and do not like to come off of those rims very well. Especially since they just about max out our machines for mounting and balancing at work. Nice score though, they are easy to put back on the rims.

Saw the Mojave's & Chamber's. I do like them both. I was just wondering about back spacing.

I didn't see the 17" RC's though. I wonder how much weight difference there is between those and the Americans.

Thanks for the links.

They take the wheels and tires off and replace them with 22" + wheels and low profile street tires. It's the "Bling Bling" crowd that likes that sh!t. He doesn't have to dismount the tires.

I can get the wheels and tires from these take offs. I'd just bring them to a tire shop and have them swapped.

Long arms with 7", D60's or 9" Ford. I'll run custom built bumpers front & rear. Trim fenders if needed. Think that's enough?

As long as those longarms say Claytons on them that is just fine. If they say RK, you need to spend your money elsewhere.

How about Kevin's, Hunter? You prefer Clayton's over his?
