Anybody else have problems with dash lights in a ZJ

When I turn the headlights on it doesn't always dime them and then they will go dime enough that I almost can't see them and the switch is on high.
Is this a headlight switch problem or some other common issue
Thanks

the dash lights will go dim?

there is a sensor on top of the dash is that covered?or it could be going out.

i think this is the dimmer switch thats goin bad.....my brother has a 96, and if he presses the dimmer switch (the one that slides back and forth) in against the dash, the lights will brighten up.....try that and see if your lights get brighter.
