Does water from rain get the filter wet? Or snow that melts?

Surprisingly no, only a slight bit, and I put mine elevated from the bottom of the cowl by using an old heat shield, so its pretty well protected...

Tuesday i have off from work so im going to put a 90, or a 60, degree the end my intake and run it more inside of the cowl where the heater box gets it's air.

Hit a water crossing with too much gusto and had what looked like a 1" wall of water on my windshield that ran into the cowl and hydro locked. Mind that the water level was up to my hood anyways...

No damage. Pulled the plugs and pumped the water out and continued to off road all day.

Crossed that same spot twice more just slowly and had no troubles.

Im not a fan of the snorkel set up... Call me crazy.

I love the cowl intake and plan to stick with it even if i have to run the intake into the car a bit. Haha.

My jeep is set up to be a swamper; so im not worried.

There is actually, when I first did it I bought an autozone filter but it didn't fit, so I hit it with a bfh till it did. I was sorta worried that waa bad so I got an airaid filter off of summitracing. When I get on my comp i'll post a link.

This is the puddle i went through too fast the one time. Little less shallow when i visited yesterday with my newly sealed trans. Worked great. All fluids are clean

Less deep
more* shallow

I really like the filter in the cowl like that! I had an XJ and just ran a hose out the back of my stock airbox to the cowl. (cant do that on the ZJ, washer fluid in the way)
One time I sank my XJ's nose in a mud pit nearly to the wipers! engine COMPLETELY submerged the front of my jeep, cowl intake worked great! (although I did have to get yanked out by a Deuce and a half...)
Have to make sure it stays relatively clear of mud and snow, but worked great. Im sure itll be the same on the ZJ!

Sweet! I like the red way better than the k&n filter. Gonna have to order it soon!

like the fact that you're sucking hot air from the engine compartment rather than the fresh air from outsids
