Alt volt regulator.......hmmmm

So iv been having this charging problem with my GC.Ran all new cables, battery, etc. Still didnt do the job.
So i brought the alt to get tested and they said its all good except the regulator on it is many/to less of v's going out.... He told me the black back is the volt regulator.
2 bolts and a phillips and go to jeep stealership and get a new one/install it.

My question is can u even get a v regulator for the alt?
If so were at besides stealership?
Or just get a new alt?

Not sure what's inside that little black box. The FSM diagrams ignore it. Its not the regulator. The two small posts connect to the field coil inside the alt, which the PCM uses to regulate the system voltage. I'd try another alt at this point. If it still won't regulate, it could be PCM or wiring.

The brushes are easy to change. Go to local alternator shop and ask for a brush pack for whatever brand you have. 10-15 bucks.

But it could be a diode or capacitor too... not to mention bearings...
