I lost my key fob so I have no remote. I locked my doors from the power door lock switch then shut the door. I left something inside, so I unlocked it and opened the door before the Jeep could fully arm itself.
The horn started beeping and the lights blinking. I turned the key in the ignition, and it starts but shuts right off and continues beeping and flashing. I disconnected the positive cable because it was a little loose and I could muscle it off.
Will this reset it? or is there a secret to this "hi-tech alarm"?
5.9 ZJ
Thanks all.

ahh yeah i love the alarms in the ZJ, i had a friend drive around the block then i hit the panic button, Jeep blared the alarm and stalled, man he was freaking out
i just held the panic button for a few secs and it shuts right off. if that dont work you got a mad Jeep, just disconnect battery

Love the fact im not the only one this has happened to, lol. Guy i bought the jeep off of never told me about the alarm or how to disarm it without the remote. Was a fun time waiting on the alarm to stop. My disarm only works using the key in the passenger side door.

I got fed up with that crappy "alarm" and pulled the module from behind the glove box.

A GC I had a couple years back did that. Whenever it was unlocked with the key in either door it would go off and I would have to lock and unlock it with the passenger door over and over. I ended up just not locking it.

Mines broken too and the only way to make the alarm go off is to unlock the rear hatch first then unlock your door...disconnecting the battery does nothing cuz when u connect it again the alarm still goes off and then u gotta set ur clock and all thay again...Thats how mine is atleast

Same problem and fixed now. The key wouldn't reset the alarm in my 93 grand cherokee because the reset switch fell off the back of the key tumbler. Found this out by taking off the door panel and seeing the two wire switch not connected. This one has a small triangle hole that slides on the back of tumbler. There was a dot above one flat (of triangle), so I put that to the top. Pushed the switch back onto the end of tumbler where the small triangle shaft sticks out. Then, I mixed up a small amount of JB weld (epoxy) and put a small dab on the top of it so it wouldn't fall off again. (that was done after testing it)
Hope this helps.
