Fill out the Jeep info in the profile, American jeep, right? "The vehicle immobilizer system is factory-installed standard equipment on models built for sale outside North America. The vehicle immobilizer
system can only be disarmed using the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitters." You looked in the Owners manual. If you have the VTSS system the key should disarm used in either front doors. Both being out is unusual, The Body Control Module BCM is involved next.

It works via the keyless entry.. but we only have one key less entry if it was to become lost then we can no longer unlock doors and its a pain having batterys go out on keyless entry and not be able to unlock doors till batterys are replaced

If the alarm doesn't disarm after unlocking the door drivers door, try unlocking the passenger door or the rear hatch. Either one of those should do the trick. Also, If you lock the doors while the key is still in the on position, it won't arm the alarm.

I gave up trying to fix mine, I just don't arm it. I have no fobs. I let everyone else out of the Jeep, (if there is passengers), hit the power locks, open the driver's door and lock the drivers door manually. No alarm issues at all, it never gets set. Do NOT do the purple wire crap on a 96-98, it will not work. If someone got it to work I want proof. It's either that or find the faulty part and replace it.

Look out for this, My horns were not working, mice, Went to the store, locked my doors with switch through habit, this time with the window down. Came back, reached in and unlocked the door. Jeep would not start, checked my usual stuff, nothing. Called a friend to tow me and when he pulled up said my lights were blinking. Duh - turned the alarm off with the key. Paid him for his gas and bought him lunch.
If you remove the horn alarm look out for this.
