Airconditioner doesn't cool car

Had it checked by dealer. Say no problem. Takes 20 minutes at highway speed to begin to feel a little cool air in back. Is system too small for cabin space? Passengers miserable. Anybody else have trouble with this?

You can get more air to the rear passengers by directing some through the under-seat vents, and by aiming the center dash vents between the front seats. The system should be adequate, but if yours isn't cooling enough, I'd skip the dealer (unless you're still in warranty) and take it to an A/C shop. The system may be low on R134a and just need a recharge. If it's a pro shop they'll check it out, charge it if necessary, and add oil and dye as needed.

Thanks for the response. Forgot to say it's a 2002. Had it recharged at dealer last summer and this summer and all tests done etc. The temp readings they get are good and compared to a floor model the power at vents felt same. Still interior remains sooo hot!

If your rear windows aren't already dark tinted, have that done - it helps.

The AC should be super cold. IF not then, you've got a leak somewhere. It may be very small. After only three years, I had to recharge my freon or whatever the coolant is called now.
