Aftermarket coolant temp guage for 5.2 L 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I own a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.2 Liter V8 engine. The body control module has stopped working correctly which has resulted in the temperature gauge showing an overheated condition whenever the car is on. (Whether the engine is running or not) I am fairly sure that it is the BCM because I installed another from a similar vehicle and the gauge was accurate. Unfortunately the car will start but not run with the non matching BCM. (Probably a security issue to keep people from changing the mileage of the vehicle) The dealer wants 1500 to reprogram the BCM which is close to the value of the car and entirely out of my budget. I would like to install an aftermarket coolant temperature gauge but have been unable to locate a port into the water jacket.

Does anyone know of a location that would work for this?

Or a cheaper way to fix the BCM?

Thanks in advance for your replies.
