Advice for pulling the hood?
30 Attachment(s)
I'm probably going to pull the hood to ease reinstallation of my cylinder head. Any advice for doing it on the 1993 ZJ? Looks like 3 nuts on each side, but any gotchas I should know about? Will the hood stay up by itself with all the nuts removed, or will it need to be supported once I start loosening them?

EDIT - my bad, I should have read the FSM properly and not just scanned it. I think I was looking at the nuts that hold the hinges to the body, when I should actually leave the hinges attached and unbolt the hood from the hinges - correct?

Yes, do not pull hinges.

Be sure to scribe the outline of the hinge onto the hood before you remove it.

This will prevent the *** pain of lining the hood up when you reinstall

Cool. Just to confirm, the hood doesn't need to be externally supported while I'm removing the nuts holding it to the hinges? I have visions of it pivoting forward off the hinges and landing on my head when the nuts are loosened.

You'll need some help, one person will suffice

It can be done alone,(so I learned) as long as your tall enough to support the hood from the front and reach the last 2 nuts that you will need to leave loose. (ones closest to the windshield).

The time now is 10:35 PM.
