Adding an auto dim sideview?

I tried a search but not finding what i need.

Found a working Niner auto dim sideview i'd like to swap into my 98 Laredo... whats involved? Being that i have a 98 is the wiring there? Will i need a harness section from donor rig?

Is this controled via BCM and i'm SOL?

Outside mirror is controlled by auto day/night rear view mirror, that's where the sensors are. The back-up lamp input disables dimming while in reverse gear.

Need auto day/night rear view mirror/wiring, and two wires (YL/BK and YL/WT) between rear view and outside for auto dim outside to work.

X2 but a 95 here. I'm installing a 96+ auto dim rear view so that part has the right connector. Could I just get the auto dim side mirror and wire it up? Granted I'm thinking of ditching the stock style mirrors altogether and going with something I can fold in while on the trail...but if I can do auto dim that may change my mind.

Sorry to jack your thread...

For 93-95... no auto dim outside mirror and auto day/night rear view has a 3-pin connector.

Should be able to rewire to make 96+ mirror work with 93-95 door switches. Will only have manual positioning with no feedback/memory.

For auto dim to work, would need 96+ auto day/night rear view mirror, add two wires (for outside auto-dim) between rear view and outside auto dim mirror.

so with the 96+ mirrors we would be able to adjust with the switch still? just the memory would not work correct?

All mirrors have simple reversible motors, no brains. They don't know if +12v/GND comes from 93-95 discreet switches or 96+ door modules.

That's exactly what I'm doing for the rear view mirror. I was just going to use the 3 wires (my ZJ didn't come with anything auto dim) but it would be just as easy to run 2 more wires...

Korea...Thank You Sir.

I swapped out my OEM rearview with a Gentex177 autodim from a 97 Tahoe, this also has the Temp/Compass. It's leftover from my XJ.

Now that i know it's powered off the rearview i can make it work.

Thanks..

Thats a nice mirror Overland, was looking at them on ebay.

Bringing this back since the last mirror I found wasn't off a Niner or autodim afterall..

Guy is parting a 98 Limited, is there a way to ID an autodim? Extra wiring or something? IIRC these were 97-98 option only?

Is Korea ^^ still MIA?

Sadly it appears so.

As for identifying the AD mirror, you should be able to tell a slight difference just in the way they look compared to a non-AD mirror. They have a slight tint to them compared to the passenger side. Aside from that, the wiring harness would be different compared to a regular heated side mirror.

Also, AD was available from '96-'98.

Two small wires seperate from the main mirror harness. yl/wt and y/bl.

That's all it takes is one single signal wire to add the auto dimming feature? I picked up a 96 passenger and driver and rear view mirror and haven't installed the side mirrors because I realized that I only had the three wire piggy backing.
