Rear lighting

Just wondering if you ever found a solution to your lighting problem? Currently I have no back up lights/both sides.
Thought maybe you may know some solution.

Hi guys, I posted this a few days ago on a similar thread.. not sure it it'll help you, but worth a try before heading to the dealership (BTW - mine is also a 99 Grand LTD):

I had the same issue on my 99 WJ about 3 years ago.... I tried everything (At least I thought so) and could not correct the issue..

Ended up bringing it to the local dealer who, after 2-3 "billable" hours, told me I had a loose wire in the steering column (I think it was in the steering column itself at the bottom, where the stalk wires are connected to the rest of the car).

Anyway, you may want to take the plastic off the column and have a look-see.

BTW - Mine was mostly the rear/left turn signal.. I think the front still worked

I had no reverse lights for a couple days. There is a little switch under the jeep that i believe has 3 prongs, it just looks like a nut with a rubber cap and wires running to it. If you can bypass it and the reverse lights come on, it's bad. I think mine was $20 to fix through the school, and only took 10 minutes or so. I dont remember where it screws in to, but for some reason I'm thinking it's the transmission fluid pan. When you unscrew it tranny fluid (i think) comes pouring out so you have to screw the new one in fast.

Then again I did it on a lift, so that made things easier.

Back up wire color

Any luck with the reverse lights? I am still in the dark here and it is really pissing me off.
The reverse light wire, I have been told, is black and violet.

I am going to pull the steering colum cover now but I am running out of ideas.
I am kinda getting used to using my spot light (one million candle pwr) to hook up the trailer in the dark. I got a feeling that if I can ever get these f-n back ups to come on they will seem really dim.
Anyone seen any million candle pwr back up bulbs for sale.
Will pay top dollar!!
