98 ZJ Automatic Transmission Downshifting Issue

So this has been happening for about a month now; when I am coming to a stop, usually from around 40-45mph, when I get down to about 5mph right before the dead stop, the whole front end shakes.

The only way I have found to get it to not do this, is brake from 45mph to 30mph, let off the brake. I'll feel it downshift, repeat the same from 30mph to 20mph, and so on gear by gear.

Not really great on my brakes and not really how I want to drive. Any thoughts on what could be the issue?

159,600 Miles on it now. And it gets some pretty hard use.

Sounds like the converter lockup valve in the transmission valvebody is sticking. There is a fluid protectant to help with that made by Lubeguard that is dealer and factory certified.

I have given the fluid about a week in the Transmission now, it has defiantly helped the situation. It still shakes from time to time when I come to a stop, but no where near what it used to be. I think it still needs new mounts is all.
