98 Laredo Electric Window only pulses 5mm at a time

On my Laredo the electric has developed the following fault.

When the down button is activated the window moves down 5mm and stops.
I have to release the button and push again for another 5mm.

This is the same all the way down, and repeats the same trick all the way back up?

Have owned the Jeep for a few years.
Within the fuse panel there are a few "re-settable" fuses.

One of these has needed constant removing and replacing since owning the Jeep. i.e the front windows and door lock stops working so remove the fuse/breaker, re-insert and all is good for 1 day or 10 days, depends how the Jeep feels.

Hope someone can shed some light, it is the inching of the window that is frustrating

Thanks in advance Jeep peeps

sounds like the wiring or motor in the window is shorting out and kicking out the resettable fuse. when you release the swith the fuse resets and lets you lower the window again.

I would probably start with checking or replacing the window motor because I don't think the window would move at all if the wires were shorting out.

could be your track is dirty and its causing to much resistance for the motor tripping the fuse. id check that before replacing anything.
