98 5.9 Shifting Funny

I have a 98 JGC 5.9 Limited with 47k miles. It just started feeling like it wqas staying in gear to long at low speeds. Then today, i noticed it is starting to wind a little at highway speed. I am hoping this is just needing a tranny service. With only 47k, i am wondering why this is happening. Any thoughts appreciated!

Jason

Yep, tranny service it is....

Sounds like dirty transmission fluid to me.

Jason,

check the fluid level. The Grands will seriously whine and fuss if they are a little low.

Too much ATF

Just out of curiosity, what will happen if someone were to add, say a quart too much fluid to the tranny? Is there a relief valve, apart from overflowing through the dip tube, that will allow the expanding fluid to do it's thing?

If you were to overfill the tranny, it will just vent itself.
