98 5.9 GC reliable?

Considering buying a 98 GC Limited with the 5.9 to replace my 83 Cj.

Are there many known problems with that year, engine combo that are known of? What should I be looking to pay? I would like it to have less than 100,000 miles on it.

Anyone know if the 5.9 is worth the extra wait and extra effort to find it?

Can anyone just tell me everything they know about the 5.9?

Take some time and read through www.nagca.com and www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums under grand cherokee and you can find out all kinds of stuff.

I recently purchased my 98 5.9L a month ago and I love it. This is my third Jeep and so far it's been heaven. I've had a 94 Grand Cherokee and an 86 Cherokee. It's much more luxurious.

I bought it used with only 47K miles!. Kind of pricey for $15,000, but it's a beast.

The good stuff:
- Heated front seats
- Sunroof / Moonroof
- 5.9L!!
- V8
- LOTS of leather interior
- Chrome exhaust tip
- Louvered hood

.. I can go on and on.

Only problems so far have been minor computer and sensor glitches. My shop has fixed them for practically nothing.

Search around on Autotrader.com for some private and used dealers in your area.

Good luck!
