98 4.0 ECU, can't find replacement?

Number on mine is P56044514AB, tried calling several parts stores, but either it needs to be R&R'd (which I am weary off) or they can't get it! What's so special about that part number? Can I swap it with another number? Thanks!!!

Not sure, but I think that is a california version. I think I have one but have no idea if it is any good.
