97 zj sunroof needs help?

ok its not in my profile be for you go looking there as i have 3 jeeps, my 97 zj orvis edd sun roof is having issues. It will open to vent and close but will not retract to full open. I have have a few switches for the sunroof that came with the jeep and tried one but no go. I can see the map lights dim when I open to vent. they don't dim like there is a load when I flip the switch to full open. Also i don't hear the motor even try to move is there a commen fix that i didn't find under the search?

my motor in my 97 orvis finally gave out and quit completely. Had to have the motor replaced, now it works like new in every direction.

good gas mileage is highly overrated.

if you are feeling industrious pull your headliner and pull the motor out.

open the plastic box for its electronics and check the solder joints.

mine worked intermittenly for a while then i noticed the solder joints where cracked.

resoldered them and bam, good as new.

What he said ^ mine did the same thing as yours is doing. Those relays were bad and needed to be resoldered. They are in a little black box by the motor under the headliner.
