I broke 2 bolts which hold the compressor. Are these plain off-the-shelf bolts or is there something special about them? I'm sure I won't be able match the thread length and I hope there is not something stupid like 6-5/8 max & 6-1/4 min length that will fit.
Well, new bolts ended up being a non-issue, I couldn't get the broken ends out of the bracket. Ruined 2 screw extractors.
I went to pull-a-part and they had a 96 4.0 but the compressor bracket was already gone. I didn't have any luck finding another part-out at this time.
I ended up drilling all the way down through the back left bolt and coming up through the bottom with a 5/16 x 4-1/2" bolt. I ground off about halfway around the head so it would fit up against the bracket casting inside corner. On the front right broken bolt, I drilled into it 3/4" or so and tapped it for a 3/16" bolt. Shade tree mechanic solution, sure, but it works.
